Javonte “J J” Douglas is a 202 cm (6’8”) versatile forward/power forward who can score in various ways. He is long and athletic, and has a great one or two dribble pull-up and step-back shot from mid-range. J J is outstanding in getting into the lane and playing off two feet to create his own shot. His biggest strength on offense is his mid-range game where he can face-up and use his athletic ability to elevate over defenders and shoot, or drive and finish with either hand around the basket. As a great rebounder, he puts himself in a position to get second shot opportunities which is essential to his team. He is a coachable player who keeps it simple and reads defense well. J J runs the floor well and makes excellent decisions in transition or half court offense. In addition, he is a solid on-the-ball defender and uses his size and athletic ability to stop players from driving or shooting over him.
During 2019/2020 season, J J played for Olomoucko in Czech Republic. He averaged 17ppg and 11rpg, with 55% shooting from the field, 37% from the 3-point line, and 80% behind the free throw line.
During 2018/2019 season, J J played for Olomoucko in Czech Republic. He averaged 21ppg (1st), 10rpg (2nd), 3apg, and 1.3sppg (4th) with 62% shooting from the field. He lead the league in efficiency with 28 RNK. In addition, J J scored 26 points in Czech All-Star Game and won 1-on-1 challenge competition. He earned 8 Player of the Week honors throughout the season and was Player of the Month in March. J J WAS NAMED MVP OF CZECH KOOPERATIVE LEAGUE this season. Olomoucko finished in 3rd place in the regular season and in Czech Cup. In quarter-finals of Playoffs, they beat Pardubice (4:0) and finished 3rd in league. During 2017/2018 season, J.J. played for Lefke in North Cyprus league. He averaged 23 points and 8 rebounds per game. Lefke finished 2nd in the regular season and won two cup tilles. In April 2018, J.J. signed to play for Taranaki Mountainairs in New Zealand. He was named 2nd team All-New Zealand selection and averaged 21.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game and show 54% from the field and 42% from behind the 3-point line. After graduating from The University of Montevallo, J.J. played playoffs for Sol de America basketball club in Paraguay. They finished 3rd in the league and he averaged 30 points and 10 rebounds per game. Below are the highlights from Paraguayan league:
In July, he played for Matadors in THE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. The team won the first game versus Washington Generals and lost by 11 points to 3-year champs, Overseas Elite. In the game against Overseas Elite, he led the team in scoring with 17 points. During the 2016/2017 season, J.J. was a NCAA Division II All-American at The University of Montevallo. The team finished as the Peach Belt Conference co-champions and J.J. was named a first team All-Peach Belt Conference selection. In 2017, J.J. was one of 50 finalists for the Bevo Francis Award recognizing the top small college basketball player in the nation. J.J., a four-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week selection, led the conference in three separate statistical categories. He averaged a conference-high 24.2 points per game and a conference-best 11.3 rebounds per game to go along with a conference-leading 46.5 percent (40-of-86) shooting from beyond the 3-point line. J.J. is the only player nationally in NCAA Division II to be ranked in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding. He finished in double figures in scoring in every game he played in and posted a conference-leading 14 double-doubles this season. J.J. scored in double figures in all 22 games he played in for the University of Montevalllo this season. In NABC All-Star Game, J.J. scored 23 points. During the 2013/2014 season, J.J. played at the College of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida. He was named a second team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American. J. J. was also named the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year and averaged 17.2 points per game and 9.1 rebounds per game.
During the 2012/2013 season, J.J. competed at Hill College in Hillsboro, Texas. He earned honorable mention National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American honors, first team All-Region honors, and was the Most Valuable Player in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. J.J. averaged 16.3 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
