Jaye Crockett is a 201 cm (6’7”) long, athletic, energetic, and tough crafty slashing 4. Jaye is outstanding in getting into the lane and playing off two feet to create his own shot or to get teammates in position to score. His offensive strengths are ability to drive and finish around the rim, create his own shot by using step-back and pull-up moves, and getting offensive rebounds and put-backs. Jaye can face-up and use his athletic ability to elevate over defenders to shoot, or drive and finish with either hand around the basket. He is capable in playing pick and roll as a screener and/or ballhandler, which makes him a very versatile and hard player to defend. He is highly coachable and keeps it simple as he reads defense well. Jaye runs the floor well and makes excellent decisions in transition or half court situations. He is a versatile defender who uses his athletic ability and footwork to stop perimeter players or power forwards.
During 2020/2021 season Jaye signed to play for Fribourg in FIBA Europe Cup, but since the competition got postponed to January he is currently with the team but a free agent.
During 2019/2020 season, Jaye began playing for Anibal Zahle in Lebanese league, but after only two games SE Melbourne Phoenix from Australian NBL bought him out and he moved to Melbourne to be a 2-month replacement player until December 10, 2019. In 9 games and 18 minutes per game, Jaye averaged 9 points per game and 5 rebounds per game with great shooting percentages. In January 2020, Jaye signed a contract with BK Astana in VTB. In 6 games and 23 minutes per game for Astana, Jaye averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds per game, and shot 61% from the field and 91% from the free throw line. Astana was in 9th place in VTB before the season got canceled. Below are some highlights from this season:
During 2018/2019 season, Jaye played limited amount of games and minutes for Le Portel in top French Pro A league due to a foot injury. In 6 games, he played 18 minutes per game and averaged 8.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest. He shot 69% from the field and 44% from behind the 3-point line.
During 2017/2018 season, Jaye played for Danish champs, Bakken Bears. In 17 games of FIBA Europe Cup, he averaged 15.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game and he was 2nd in efficiency in the league. He was named 2nd Team All-FIBA Europe Cup selection. Bakken Bears made it to the semi-finals of FIBA Europe Cup. In domestic league, Bakken won the Danish Cup and Championship and Jaye was MVP of Danish Finals. In 4 games of the Finals, Jaye averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds per game. During 2016/2017 season, Jaye played first part of the season for Forli in Italian 2nd division. He averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds. During the second part of the season, Jaye played for Trapani in Italian 2nd division and the team made the playoffs. He averaged 16 points and 7 rebounds and shot 64% from the field and 35% from behind the 3-point line. Below are highlights from Italian 2nd division:
During 2015/2016 season, Jaye played the second part of the season for Massagno in Swiss top league where the team finished the season in 6th place. Jaye finished 2nd in the league in scoring and 4th in rebounding. He averaged 21 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.8 steals while shooting 62% from the field, 37% from behind the 3-point line, and 69% from the free throw line. Before he joined Massagno, Jaye played 10 games for Shinshu in Japanese BJ League where he averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds per game.
During 2014/2015 season, Jaye played for Tortona in Italian 2nd division and averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game, while shooting 62% from the field, 34% from behind the 3-point line, and 74% from the free throw line.
In college, Jaye played for Coach Tubby Smith at Texas Tech University and was named 3rd Team All Big 12 Conference selection. His senior year, Jaye averaged 14 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Below are his college highlights from Texas Tech University:
