Joe Lawson is a 201 cm (6’7”) strong, crafty, and versatile power forward. Joe is outstanding in getting into the lane and playing off two feet to create his own shot or to get teammates in position to score. His offensive strengths are ability to post up players and finish around the rim, create his own shot by using shot fakes, step-back and pull-up moves, and getting offensive rebounds and put-backs. Joe can face-up and use his toughness, high IQ, and skills to score, or drive and finish with either hand around the basket. He is highly coachable and keeps it simple as he reads defense well. Joe is a versatile defender who uses his experience, toughness, and strength to defend either power forwards or centers.

In December 2024, Joe signed with Al-Hala in Bahrain, and averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

During the 2024 season, Joe played for El Calor de Cancun in Mexican LNBP until December, 2024. In 20 minutes of play, he averaged 9 points and 4 rebounds per game.

During 2023/2024 season, Joe played for Rilski in Bulgaria and won the Bulgarian championship. In 21 minutes per game, he averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds per game, and shot 60% from the field, 38% from the 3-point line, and 76% from the free throw line.

In June 2023, Joe signed to play for Auckland Tuatara in New Zealand. They won the regular season and lost in the finals. Joe averaged 10 points and 4 rebounds in 20 minutes per game.

In February 2023, Joe signed to play for Pitesti in Romania, and he averaged 9 points and 3 rebounds per game. Until February 2023, Joe played for Macabi Hebraica in Uruguayan top league. In December 2021, Joe signed to play for one of the top Finnish teams, Helsinki Seagulls. Helsinki finished the season in 3rd place and Joe averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game with excellent shooting percentages. Helsinki Seagulls won the Finnish Cup. During 2021 season, Joe played for one of the top Mexican teams, Soles. He averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game, and the team made to the semi-finals. Soles won the regular season championship and the Mexican Cup.

During 2020/2021 season, Joe first averaged 15 points and 4 rebounds for Mexican champs, Soles, before signing to play for German BBL team, Chemnitz. In 17 minutes per game, he averaged 10 points and 3 rebounds. He won Mexican Cup and Regular Season Championship with Soles.

During 2019/2020 season, Joe averaged 9 points and 4 rebounds per game for Braunschweig in German BBL. Below are his German BBL highlights.

During 2018/2019 season, Joe played for German team Merlins Crailsheim and averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds per game.

Before playing in German BBL, Joe played in German Pro A league for Gotha and Chemnitz. He averaged 13 to 15 points per game during the three seasons that he spent playing in German Pro A league.

Prior to his international playing experience, Joe played for University of Indianapolis in NCAA I. During his senior season, he averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds per game. His junior year, Joe averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. He won GLVC Regular Season Championship. Joe earned All-GLVC First Team selection during junior and senior seasons.
